For superior conception rates, increased performance, healthier pups and adults with stronger immune systems.
In 1908, the Russian biologist Eli Metchnikoff credited the long lives of certain Bulgarian and Russian citizens to the consumption of fermented milk products: later the organism was identified as Lactobacillus acidophilus. Humans and animals are healthier when fed these acid producing bacteria because disease-causing bacteria reduce an animal's ability to absorb nutrients by disrupting the lining of the small intestine. The lactic-producing bacteria attach to the small intestine and produce a substance to prevent the disease-producing bacteria from binding to the intestinal wall and they also increase the absorptive surface area of the small intestine and enhance enzyme activity for greater nutrient absorption by the animal. The FOS are fructo-oligosaccharides (known as prebiotics) that are natural components of over 36,000 species of plants and are classified as dietary fibers which are nondigestible by mammals but provide the Lactobacillus with nutrients to divide thereby indirectly limiting the growth of of potential pathogens.
Wean & Stress: This product contains DDS-1 super Acidophilus and four freeze-dried, probiotic bacteria, Lactobacillus plantarum, Enterococcus faecium, Lactobacillus casei, and Lactobacillus acidophilus /FOS/and Vitamins and is Dispersable which are prepared fresh to provide a source of live bacteria with double FOS to facilitate it's growth. Other commercial products provide the bacteria claiming to have a shelf life of 2 years and may not provide nutrients for the bacteria to successfully multiply to lead to optimum growth . Even commercial feeds that have probiotics have minimal benefit since the bacteria are heat sensitive and may be destroyed during manufacturing or staorage. Wean & Stress is freeze-dried so you make it fresh when you need it so it not only provides maximum benefits when administered, but maintains the benefits with the double FOS.
Newborn animals have bacteria-free digestive tracts but disease-causing bacteria can quickly predominate. By dosing the newborn pups with Wean & Stress, and continuing on days 3, 5, 7, and at weaning, you provide them with optimum nutrient absorption and digestive tracts that inhibit diarrhea-causing organisms such as E. Coli, Salmonella typhirium, Staphlococcus aureus and Clostridium perfringens.
Reduce harmful, pathogenic bacteria causing diarrhea and other disease conditions
Promote increased nutrient absorption for optimum growth of pups
Enhance the immune mechanism and provide resistance to disease and even possibly cancer
Supplement desirable intestinal flora to newborns, at weaning and during diet changes
Normalize the gut after antibiotic therapy, environmental stress of hot or cold, transporting, or birthing
Maintain appetite during convalescence and after surgery
Boosts the performance of healthy animals by increasing feed intake and nutrient absorption
Enhanced fiber digestion can reduce stools, odor, and possibly bloat.
Breeding, whelping, trialing, and heavy training can alter food intake and increase susceptibility to disease.
Benefits ultimately include increased energy levels and enhanced coat.
FOS stimulates the Lactobacilli, limits putrifying organisms in the colon, and aids in healthy digestion of food.
Enhances the uptakes of calcium, magnesium and certain vitamins and the secretion of B vitamins and enzymes by the lactic bacteria stimulate other healthy producing bacteria.
